Art Embracing Functionality
Danish artist FOS challenge the line between art and design with his eye-catching Social Design works that vary from gallery installations to functional items, and are a true experience. The interaction in the space between humans and everyday items like furniture or street lamps captivate the eye of Danish artist FOS (born Thomas Poulsen). He is so intrigued by this relationship that he created the term Social Design and by this a new way of doing art installations that challenge the presence of the spectators and invite to human interaction. Since his origins at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, FOS has been experimenting with an array of different materials; clay, wood, acrylic, iron amongst others. And he does it masterfully.FOS explores the connection between function and artistic expression; his pieces balance the line between design and art and possess a certain ambiguity that opens up space for personal interpretation.

An added bonus to FOS' work is that you can enjoy his incredible work in a gallery, but you can also bring it to use at home, as he has done several collaborative projects and developed, vases, lamps and even coat hangers.
